Don’t want to lose this thought from Cornell West, “You can’t lead the people if you don’t love the people. You can’t save the people if you don’t serve the people.”
Just last night during the moderator forum training for the Achievement Gaps project we are doing here in Central Texas, there was a heated moment when we talked about culture and whether or not all cultures value education equally. I was modeling the moderator role and afterwards, the participants asked what to do when conflict arises. It occurred to me that when it gets tense during a forum, I rely on love. I listen with love and I want everyone in the room to also find love for each other through the disagreement and tension.
Wouldn’t it be great if we had leaders who led with love? What would our world look like?
