I’m just putting the finishing touches on the newsletter and it’s amazing how much is going on. It’s all very exciting and I think could have a real impact. But in addition to the official Texas Forums activities, I have some interesting opportunities this month that I will write about here.
I leave early tomorrow for St. Paul where I will be speaking on Libraries, Civic Engagement and Electronic Democracy at an event hosted by the Metropolitan Library Service Agency and e-democracy, advising e-democracy on their strategic plan, and speaking at their annual kick-off.
Texas Forums is a co-sponsor for The Harwood Summit, a kick-off of three years of community leadership development sponsored by the United Way Capital Area and St. David’s Community Health Foundation so I will host a table of leaders at a luncheon on September 19 gathered to hear Rich Harwood.
I travel to the Kettering Foundation in Dayton on September 19-21 with Susan Dawson (E3 Alliance) and Patty Shafer (San Marcos School Board Superintendent) to meet with other community leaders using community dialogue to develop actions items to close the achievement gaps in education. I will be co-facilitating that meeting (wearing two hats as a Kettering researcher and as Texas Forums) with David Moore of Collaborative Communications Group.
Well, off to pack for St. Paul!
