Our off-site bloggers (citizen journalists) are reflecting what citizens are saying and will be posted on the Texas Forums blog and Tavis Smiley blog. Various partners have come together to make this happen (bigger picture). Tavis Smiley convenes educators and experts nationally to have the community as a whole, including Africans across the nation, to put a plan together for solutions. Issues are not mutually exclusive, such as healthcare, criminal justice system, etc. Austin area partners feel that critical issues need to be addressed are: LBJ Texas Forums; UT Center for African American Studies; Austin Community College (Center for Public Policy and Political Studies); Urban League; and Huston-Tillotson University.
According to organizers, this body will create a more expansive conversation such as this presidential democratic forum tonight, which is being hosted at Howard University. Moderator tonight at LBJ Library is John Hanson.
